Picasa Web Google 404 Not Found

By: David Rader II on August 07, 2007 @ 5:30 PM

I've written this article to help Google solve what seems to be a problem in picasaweb.google search. Skip to very bottom to read problem, pin-pointed.

After going to Picasaweb.google.com, I wanted to see how the service worked. So I searched using the test keyword "test"

The results came back fine, but then after I searched in the field on the following page:

The new results didn't come back. I've included the URL's so Google will have a better idea of what I'm talking about. In the past, I've usually just sent long messages explaining every detail to help people out with their website problems, but I feel including images will help me communicate more precisely, for their benifit and everyone who uses their services (because they'll likely be fixed faster).

Even if for some reason, the results aren't supposd to show when typing there, for instance, if I am supposed to be logged in... Clicking search should direct me to a page that says "You must log in to do that," or something similiar.

Try a search for yourself (after logging in to your Google account):
http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/searchbrowse?psc=G&filter=1&q=test#0+1

I have signed up for Picasa and uploaded some pictures and tested again, it works.

The pin-pointed problem: When a user is logged into Google, but has not a Picasa Web Albums account started, results display a 404 NOT FOUND.

You now have the information, the power is in your hands!

It almost brings a tear to my eye when I see a 404 Page can not be displayed from a Google link, to a Google site.
