Ashtray with Cast Iron Drunk Man Hanging on a Street Sign

By: David Rader II on November 01, 2015 @ 3:37 PM

Coming from Wilton Products based in Wrightsville, PA, this ashtray features a drunk man holding on for dear life to a sign pole. The pictures feature the front, bottom and back/size.

From what I've seen on the internet, these sign poles could've said anything on them. This particular one wore off. All of the paint looks original to me, but I'm no expert. I've not done anything to it myself since purchasing it at a yardsale around the year 2011.

This ashtray was bought around 2011 as pictured. You can see the sign is a little bent at the top, but I didn't want to try and correct it myself. In a way, it reminds me of the work of artist, Salvador Dali. I kind of like it bent.

Please see the high res pictures below:

The company came about possibly in the 1940's. Apparently they painted some cast iron from from "Susquehanna Castings." According to this source about Armetale History and Susquenna Castings. Selling this on eBay.
