I find it kind of funny in a ridiculous sense when (unfortunately it seems mostly republicans) people say or hint around that "we don't need alternative energy because we're not going to run out of oil anyway."

The funny part about that is not that it's true or false to me, but that even if we weren't going to run out, it's still a good idea to diversify.

One of the most commonly accepted rules for financial investing is diversifying. Why shouldn't our energy be as if not more diversified? Isn't it as important as money? People call oil black gold after all, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have platinum, silver, copper and other resources as well.
