Human Action By: David Rader II on July 17, 2008 @ 8:58 AM
The sad thing and also the greatest thing about human action is that no person can what they truly believe is wrong. Even the person who is doing wrong simply for the sake of doing wrong still believes that the wrong thing to do is the right thing.
This is the greatest thing about human action because it provides proof that all people are ultimately good. This is why forgiveness is important and why no person should kill another except out of self-defense and even then they should try to avoid it.
This is the most sad thing about human action because it means two people are both doing that they think is right (good), yet inherently conflict with each other because their views of rightfulness appear contradicting on the surface. The good have far too often killed the good.
Ultimately, each person wants what every other person wants; that which is right. We have to look past all other wants to find that ultimate want, the biggest need. The reward of a path of goodness is a happiness with the potential to last.
A state of content is perhaps the highest form of happiness. Contentiousness is being at the top of a mountain and not worrying about falling back down. Although the tip of a mountain may seem small, a well balanced plate of any size can rest upon it with as many things on top of it. Those many things can be many people. To have balance between people, they must be mindful of each other (respect). Contentiousness and understanding that is achieved with all other human beings seems a great happiness, though if only human beings are respected, there will be regret. Content that is achieved with mindfulness to all existence (living and non-living) is happiness without future regret. Respecting things breeds understanding of them, and thus protection from them and utilization of them. Heed the likely right for other things to be here, less they would not be here.
