Doing some educational research online, I've found that two of the major religions in Maryland have been having a decreased interest level among the public. How I found this out, was by taking two search phrases, "Christian Maryland" and "Catholic Maryland" then entering them into the Google Trends search field. In doing that, I retrieved results that showed me what, in general, people have been searching for on the internet. It stands to reason that if people are searching for something less, than their level of interest has likely declined as well. In the image posted with this news article, you can see that in Maryland, the searches for both Christian and Catholic alike are becoming less.
I began to wonder if this was something that was world wide and not specific to Christianity and Catholicism, so I began to dig deeper. After doing some more educational research research, I've found that the popularity or interest in religions around the world are decreasing. Now another question remains, if the worlds interest seems to be moving away from religion, than where is that interest going to?
