Not really peace. Using religion for a temporary truce is quite hypocritical. The Arabs fight each other, except during prayer (5 times a day), and during "Ramadhan" or holy month.
Then they just return to fighting...
Sometimes I wonder if they use the "truce" to restock ammo. |

I believe that's because many of them pray because they fear hell and for promise of heaven. So they care more about their next life than the current one, while they are here and able to make an impact now. In the afterlife, they wont be able to change the things they've done here. No amount of repenting will change the past, it will only give us an avenue to learn why and how not to make similar mistakes in the future. While much knowledge may open the doors to forgiveness... If in the spirit life we are unable to interact with the physical side of life, what will knowledge do for us if we are unable to stop bad actions we had taken in the physical life which are effecting our loved ones or liked ones. It will only help us cope with our mistakes.
I am ashamed that so many religions and branches of religions promote materialism as a reward in the afterlife. What is any material thing or pleasure truly compared to the blessing tranquality? What lasting peace can be found in materialism? What happiness can be sustained without peace?
I think people should heed their actions on earth so if there is an afterlife, they don't spend eternity wishing they had done something different - that is torture. I'm sure than when I have passed, there will not be a single wrong on Earth that I would not feel it worth to spend an eternity in flames to make right, because I think eventually- it will mean that much.
I'm not positive it will mean that much though, but I'm leaning towards it. |
