#Amazon just beat #SAMS for me. How about you?
By: David Rader II on February 16, 2012 @ 12:36 AM

Is Amazon better than Sam's Club? I've been a member at SAM's club for years and I've realized something... Sam's club is the only place I pay a membership to shop and has the longest lines of anywhere I shop. So basically, I get frustrated feeling like I'm paying for a service that returns payment with long lines and the "have your card out at every check point" policy. What a big waste of time and money I've come to feel.

With Amazon.com's Subscribe and Save, I'm paying about the same or even less than Sams Club prices and getting free shipping. Also, I don't have to worry about forgetting it since it's subscribed (Happily to Amazon, I'm sure! lol). Subscriptions can be monthly up to intervals of 6 months. I have a huge order cornflakes every 6 months now and I'm testing out coffee once a month.

I'm super excited. I'll use my Sams Club membership until it runs out, but I wont renew it. Their milk is the only thing I really save much money on. About $3.00 a gallon, elsewhere it's about $3.50. That's not worth the membership fee, plus Sams Club is out of the way a little bit.

I am a modern grocery shopper. I do it online. lol... I'm the grocery shopper of the future! Well, it's late so I'm off to work at Spacely's Sprockets!

As a side note; UPS acquired Kiala today who helps websites connect with stores will will act as bulk shipping drop-off centers to save customers money. The stores benefit from traffic to their store, but must sacrifice the space/time to offer the service. Seems good for many (including the envirinment, considering less delivery mileage). Full story here. Many Staples locations currently accept UPS packages to be mailed, but not picked up other than their own. I'm surprised it's taken so long, but happy they're finally doing this.

Same here. I quit going to Sam clubs after the manager told me they could not afford more check out lanes. They had 2 open. They were doing approximately 100 Million a year. LOL!!!!!! It has been 4 years and I will NEVER go back.

In our local Sam's long lines exist but they do attempt to keep enough open, However, pricing policy doesn't truly reflect what you pay for - discounted merchandise. They don't even beat their sister stores on items both stock and certainly don't beat local sale prices on groceries - not to mention that if you live alone grocery packaging is too large. Personally, my only reason for continuing with them is gas prices. They do beat local stations by enough to pay for yearly membership. Meanwhile, on non grocery items, Amazon seems to beat almost everyone except eBay.
