Painted WH40k Space Marine Scout
By: David Rader II on February 19, 2008 @ 11:05 AM

I used to love playing the table top strategy game, Warhammer 40k, now I'm auctioning most of it off on eBay! I've been in the process of auctioning it off over multiple years, actually.

I thought I would share a few photos of one of the Blood Angels I'm selling to show off my paint job (it's something most Warhammer players do), since painting was my favorite part about the game.

So here they are.

Pretty sweet huh? Those scouts are fun to paint!

Are you KIDDING me?

What's there to be kidding about? In case you're new to the game, this may be an older space marine scout model than you're used to, but it definitely is a Games Workshop model.

If you're talking about the paint job, yeah I know it doesn't look as flashy as the paint jobs many people do on their scouts, in fact it looks dirty. That's the way I meant it to be though, because I modeled it on the concept of real life scouts- not wanting to be seen, trying to become one with the surroundings visually, often making themselves intentionally dirty so they wouldn't be seen. I admit I made a small mistake by not making his blond hair as if it were covered in dirt, I Just made the blond hair because some people do have blond hair.

If I didn't cover what you were shocked about, please let me know! I'd like to either learn my mistake or shine light on a mystery :)

Looks like you used too much paint. You should dry using a dry brush more when painting and wipe off the paint alot.

I think the guy above was commenting more of the model lacking much detail. The armor is one solid color, and the weapon is kinda more like a lead pipe than a sniper rifle.

Not bad though, with a lil less paint I think it could turn out alot better.

yeah, i don't think the color looks pretty.but i do like your explanation that modeled it on the concept of real life scouts.
